Hey- long time no see! Ive missed you!
Haha, but really, sorry its been so long since Ive made a blog post.
Anyway, my passion for sewing has started up again and I wanted to make something that I really wanted but was out of my student budget, in this case a $99 bra.
I looked at it and could tell it was made well- but the lace is cheap and there is nothing crazy special about it apart from the bondage/cage/harness/cutout design.
It took four hours and under $14 to make
I couldn’t get velvet elastic at all so i had to use normal elastic- the under breast band is fold over elastic and that same elastic was used for the think strap. Lingerie elastic was used for the extra thin strapping.
I used metal ‘D’ shaped rings to hold together the straps- amazingly they sell this at spotlight- no clue who else is making their own bras these days!
I would have done a white lace- but spotlight decide to be real cool and only have cream lace and it just didn’t look right so I went with a winter ice blue!
As you can see- this elastic HATES zig zag stitch but there was no other way- at least I don’t think so unless i make it super wide.. hmm.
Amazingly I found a elastic light blue trim the matched the lace so I chose to use that instead of white!
Obviously there is no pattern for this so I lay out my stella mc bra flat to get an idea of the shape i needed which was pretty much a lop sided triangle, traced around that and voila! (this is my stella mc bra)
For a finishing touch on this bra, i added lace to the back for a little bit more support and I’m glad I did as it makes it look less sporty!
I’ve brought another lot of fabric too- but its a dark red and the strapping is black! we will see how it turns out!! I might adjust the pattern I made- what do you think- tell me your thoughts!! I really want to perfect these!
